Visit to Menijiwoong Central School

On 30th March, 2016, Dasho Dzongda visited the Menjong Central School at Serthi Gewog on the way back from the Lauri Gewog visits. The main purpose was to monitor the numerous huge ongoing constructions of staff quarters, boys hostel, girls hostel and multipurpose hall. Dasho Dzongda commended for the speedy progresses made so far within a short period of time. Dasho also briefly met with the Teachers and staff to talk on the difficulties that they may have faced in the transitional phase. The issues were discussed in length and few of the remedies and solutions that are doable were advised with clear indication.

Presently, the school is accommodating more than 600 students from the three Gewogs of Serthi, Lauri, Langchenphu and few from others. The Menijiwoong Central School is located 26 kms from Jomotshangkha Dungkhag. In the late afternoon, Dasho visited the hostel where the students were residing temporarily. Once, all the said infrastructures are completed, it would have the capacity to accommodate more than 1000 students in the school.

It is beautifully located at a small plateau with glamorous scenic views with moderate climate making it suitable and comfortable for the students. The Gewog connectivity road to Lauri runs from the heart of this small cluster town making it convenient to travel. It is only a matter of time before it could achieve higher learning excellence in rural areas to meet the Nation’s Goal.
