Visit to Mindrupling, Zhomlingthang and Chetsewoong ( Phuntshothang Geog)

The team visited three major villages of Midrupling (earlier Vhauney), Zomlingthang (earlier sanu and thulo Katekey) and Chetsewoong (earlier and Dawre and Bahune) under Phuntshothang geog. At present only Mendrupling with about 40 household is the major inhabited village in the area. Rest of the village is abandoned unused woodland heavily infested with wild elephant and other wild herbivore such as deer, gaur, boar and many more. There is no accurate land record but according to key informant (tshogpas) there were 300-400 households were cultivating the land and cultivated 780+ acres of land. They grew rice, maize millet, and aracanut and also reared cows, goats and chicken.

About 35 acres of land at Mindrupling is identified for about 1000 sow level pig nucleus farm as well as fattener farm with processing facilities (about 20 acres) and broiler farm of 10,000 birds capacity (about 15 Acres) within house processing and value addition facilities. However there is water scarcity in the area and this will be possible only if water from Diklai River that is flowing nearby can be pumped uphill.

Conclusion:

The proposed site when visited by team recommend that it is highly potential for the project as desired by MoAF. Such project will have significant outcome in order to curb the Indian rupee shrotage through import subistution of milk, chikin and pork in the eastern region of our country.
