Background
Phuntshothang Gewog is administratively under the Samdrupchoeling Dungkhag. The Gewog consists of 28 villages comprising of 520 households. The Gewog has an area of about 137.2 square kilometers and the landscape is plain, where crops like maize, millet are grown quite extensively. With the connection of road from various directions in near future will provide easy access to market.

With the availability of vast area, the Gewog also has a proposal for town planning and with the successful establishment of the town; the Gewog will able to sell their agriculture surplus products to the market.
Phuntshothang Gewog consists of mainly wetland. Paddy is cultivated as staple food crop in the Gewog and it is widely cultivated in 766 acres of wetland. Maize and millets are also grown extensively in the Gewog. The Gewog has potential for double cropping of paddy and maize.
