Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag observed Social Forestry Day today at Jomotsangkha Middle Secondary School with a series of ceremonial and environmental activities. The event brought together civil servants, students, and local leaders in a shared effort to promote environmental stewardship and community participation.
The program began at 9:00 AM with the gathering of participants, followed by the arrival of the Chief Guest, Dasho Dzongda. A march and ceremony and the recitation of His Majesty’s Zhabten set a reverent tone for the occasion. The Social Forestry Day message was read by a student, followed by a welcome speech from the JWS CFO and a keynote address by the Chief Guest.
The JMSS Cultural Club presented cultural items, adding a vibrant touch to the event. Dasho Drungpa shared a brief strategy on plantation and ownership before the formal plantation activity began. Participants planted ornamental and flower saplings, symbolizing their commitment to a greener future.
