In a major step towards mechanizing agriculture in Bhutan’s eastern region, the Dzongkhag Administration of Samdrup Jongkhar held a mini tiller distribution program on June 9, 2025, at the DT Hall. The event saw the participation of beneficiaries, local leaders, and officials from various agencies. A total of 49 mini power tillers were officially handed over to farmers from Samdrup Jongkhar, forming part of a broader initiative by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
Supported under the Commercial Agriculture and Resilient Livelihoods Enhancement Programme (CARLEP), this initiative aims to distribute over 400 mini tillers across six eastern dzongkhags. These power tillers are expected to significantly ease farm labor and promote sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
