Today, Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag joined the rest of the country in observing Nationwide River Cleaning Day as part of the World Environment Day celebration.
The campaign, under the national theme “Collective Responsibility for Conserving Clean, Healthy Rivers and Promoting Sustainable Water Resource Management,” focused on cleaning the Stream and its tributaries, including the stormwater drains around the town.
The administration urged all individuals, institutions, and businesses to actively participate in this noble initiative to restore the river system, which is increasingly under pressure from growing environmental challenges.
All participants were also advised to adhere to safety protocols and avoid deep water bodies due to the ongoing monsoon season.
